Partners Connected Health and Vital USA Team Up for Health Measurement Tool

Patients want ever more control over and knowledge of their own healthcare, and telemedical technology from the IoT is making that happen. Now, Vital USA has teamed up with the Partners Connected Health team to validate its Vital Moto Mod health and wellness device, a 5-in-1 integrated vital sign monitoring platform.

Paired with a smartphone, the Vital Moto Mod is designed to work with the HIPAA-compliant Vital App to measure, monitor and track heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation (SpO2), non-contact core body temperature and blood pressure, all within three minutes.

“We have learned that frictionless technologies for biometric data collection from patients are key in fostering their engagement with digital products,” said Kamal Jethwani, MD, MPH, Senior Director, Partners Connected Health Innovation. “This product streamlines the vitals measurement process, replacing five discreet devices with one, and we are going to validate that this product is changing digital vitals collection from patients.”

Using light and pressure sensors, Vital’s proprietary finger cuff measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure from the finger, while its technology captures user data and employs Bluetooth technology to wirelessly upload this information to the cloud securely, where it can be accessed for reference later. The finger cuff is designed to replace traditional arm-cuff blood pressure measurement methods which can be uncomfortable and difficult to self-administer.

“This is really the next frontier for personal wellness” said Dr. Mark Blatt, Chief Medical Officer at Vital USA Inc. “By providing the consumer with a simple way to measure and monitor the five critical vital health signs they are empowered to take control, and keep an eye on their own overall health and wellness.”

The two companies are working together on a clinical trial that will compare the Vital Moto Mod to predicate medical devices, a step in the road to FDA approval.
